Come with us on an exciting trip around the Reykjanes Peninsula, a place full of powerful natural forces. This part of Iceland has seen recent volcanic eruptions and strong earthquakes that have changed the land.
We’ll visit the town of Grindavík, where the ground cracked and lava flowed through the streets, forcing people to leave their homes. You’ll walk through areas where the earth has shifted and see how nature has reshaped the town.
The tour also takes you to bubbling hot springs in a geothermal area, where you can feel the heat rising from the ground. We’ll stop by the calm and beautiful Kleifarvatn Lake, visit Iceland’s oldest lighthouse standing proudly by the sea, and walk across the famous bridge that connects two continents.
Along the way, you’ll see fresh lava fields and older ones blanketed in soft, green moss — a stunning mix of Iceland’s raw power and peaceful beauty.
We start by picking you up from a bus stop near your hotel or accommodation in Reykjavík. Then we head out to explore the Reykjanes Peninsula.
Kleifarvatn – Beautiful Lake
Our first stop is Kleifarvatn, the biggest lake in this area. It’s surrounded by black hills and mountains, and the drive there is full of great views. You’ll have time to enjoy the peaceful setting and take photos.
Seltún – Geothermal Area
Next, we visit Seltún, where hot springs, mud pools, and steam vents show the earth’s heat just below the surface. Walk on wooden paths through colorful ground shaped by nature.
Nátthagi – Fresh Lava Field
See one of the newest lava fields in Iceland, formed during recent eruptions. The black lava is still fresh, and the area looks like something from another planet.
Grindavík – Town Affected by Nature
We stop at Grindavík, a fishing town hit hard by recent earthquakes and lava flows. Many homes are empty, roads are cracked, and the ground has changed. It’s a powerful place that shows how nature can shape lives.
Gunnuhver – Boiling Mud Pools
At Gunnuhver, steam rises from large mud pots and vents. The area is named after a ghost from local stories. The smell of sulfur is strong, and the ground is always bubbling.
Reykjanesviti – Old Lighthouse
Visit the oldest lighthouse in Iceland. It stands high on a cliff with amazing views of the ocean and rocky coast. It’s a peaceful place to take in the power of the sea.
Bridge Between Continents
Walk across a bridge that connects two parts of the world – the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. It’s a special place where you can stand between two continents.
Return to Reykjavík
After a day full of amazing sights, we drive you back to Reykjavík and drop you off at your chosen stop.
